The primary objectives and purposes of MyTheatre in the Oakland Community:                  

To provide healing through the use of theatre/drama techniques for the betterment of children suffering from mental anguish due to family issues, school bullying, cyberbullying, inclusive of any other detrimental issue which might affect their mental health. 

Let them stand out.

 

Professional teachers with Drama/Theatre experience.

Alejandra P. Leon received her B.A. at San Francisco University in Drama and Cinema. She will be graduating May 2024 with her MSW and immediately accumulating hours for her LCSW. After getting licensed she will become a full-time therapist.

Access to counseling professionals in severe cases.

While Alejandra works on getting licensed she will be providing resources for those in need of a professional therapist.

Theatre production and performances.

Children will be involved in all performances at the end of the year which will be a fundraiser. Tickets will be sold as a pay what you can.

 

Exposure to all aspects of theatre production including, set design, costuming, etc.

As an actor, Alejandra P. Leon, will bring her experience and education to children, including bringing experts to teach a class.

Theatre History.

Children will learn how and why theatre began. This will be incorporated in all sessions to some degree.

Guidance with playwriting structure to create original works.

Children will be writing their own short stories, plays, and screenplays which will be performed throughout the year.
